 Messiah Chorus of Lake County

2019 Presentation Set for Sunday, December 1 @ 4:00 PM at St. John Vianney Church

GREETINGS MESSIAH CHORUS MEMBERS AND SINGERS EVERYWHERE!

We’re pleased to invite you to join us for our 71st annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah, the most inspirational and spiritually uplifting work ever composed.  We are once again blessed to hold ALL rehearsals at First Baptist Church of Painesville, while this year’s presentation will return to Saint John Vianney:

DATE:                         Sunday AFTERNOON, December 1 @ 4:00 PM

VENUE:                       Saint John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road in Mentor (off 306)

REHEARSALS:         First Baptist Church of Painesville, 10801 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Painesville

TIMES:                        Sunday, October 13, 20, 27; November 3, 10, 17, 1:30-3:30

DRESS:                      SUNDAY EVENING, November 24, 7:00-9:00 PM at St. John Vianney Church

PLEASE NOTE IMPORTANT CHANGES: St. John Vianney celebrates its 50th anniversary with a special mass on Sunday afternoon, December 8. The Church is NOT available to us that day.  After exploring multiple other options for that weekend, we ultimately decided to remain at St. John Vianney and present Messiah on Sunday, December 1. To limit interference with family time over the long Thanksgiving Holiday, dress rehearsal moves back one week, to SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24 AT ST. JOHN VIANNEY FROM 7-9 pm.

Registration opens at 1:15 on Rehearsal Sundays.  Please bring one non-perishable food item to support the Food Pantry at First Baptist, as well as to St. John Vianney at Dress Rehearsal to thank them for their generosity.  We will collect a one-time $5.00 registration fee from each choir member to help cover some of our expenses.  Additional financial support comes from patrons.  Please consider becoming a patron and asking area businesses and individuals for support, which is crucial to our sponsoring this annual service, continuing to engage professional soloists, a string ensemble, trumpet, rehearsal pianist and more.

This year the Chorus will once again by accompanied by multiple strings, organ and, piano, harpsichord and trumpet.  Updates on our Website, www.messiahchorus.com – please register for electronic communications

I have an important ask.  We need an infusion of new singers.  As long-time dedicated Chorus members, YOU are our strongest ambassadors.  PLEASE reach out to a family member, neighbor, co-worker or student, music minister in your own church choir, friend or an acquaintance and personally invite them to join you at rehearsal.  If each of you brought one singer and a quarter stay, we could add as many as 40 new singers.  Won’t you pray on this and invite others to be part of this inspiring, spiritual experience?  If you know someone who hasn’t been with us the past few years, reach out and invite them back.  Please post the attached flyer in your Church, business or other location.  Also, please reach out through social media to family and friends and ask them to join or attend our December 1st Messiah presentation.

As is our custom, we ask that you miss no more than three rehearsals and that you confirm your attendance each week by placing your initials on the attendance sheet in the Gathering Area.  It is important for all of us to learn together as we refine the more difficult musical elements of each piece so that we sound our best.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to this extraordinary Ministry.  We need you!  On behalf of the Steering Committee, we all look forward to seeing you soon as we prepare for our 70th presentation!
